Q: As someone who’s encountered hundreds of people who struggle with weight loss, were you skeptical of Warm LED Lipo at first? What changed your mind?
KG: I was extremely skeptical because it all sounds too good to be true. It was only when I experienced it myself, and then my husband experienced it, that I saw its effectiveness. What was so interesting was that my husband and I have such different body types and goals; I was looking for all-over toning and tightening and he was looking for spot treatment. We both had such unbelievable results. There was nothing that needed selling, because we were immediate believers.
Once I saw the results, it sparked my motivation to eat a little better, drink more water, do more strength training. I knew the LED light alone would work, but to really optimize my results, the lifestyle change was the ticket. In the past, I’ve done things successfully on my own to lose weight, but I saw right away that this was the additional tool that puts it all together. I knew the technology would be a guaranteed help, but I wanted to optimize it.
I was not running to give up a job I loved, but it was only when I saw and experienced the Warm LED Lipo technology that I saw that there was something better out there. I knew I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to be able to offer that to others.
Q: Tell us why you created the Accelerated Weight-Loss Package. Who would benefit the most from it? What’s included?
KG:Not everyone who walks into Body Beautiful is going to want or need the Accelerated Weight-Loss Package; it’s for those who have the dual challenge of trying to lose weight and get healthier. The LED light on its own can remove body fat. But the health piece has to come from a lifestyle change.
Included in the package is an initial comprehensive assessment that includes a review of your medical history, current blood work and any medication you might be taking, as well as a discussion of your exercise and dietary lifestyle and your goals. The end game is to have a partnership, where we figure out the best way to optimize your issues and challenges so you can have the best results. What I do differently, is that I’m not going to put you on “my plan.” We’re going to discuss options together. Twenty years of experience has given me a big tool box so that together we can figure out what’s most efficient and most sustainable for you. The goal is to make things as easy as possible so that it’s sustainable in the long run.
Q: I’ve already seen a dietician and haven’t had much success. Why will things be any different with you?
KG: Often clients come to me when they’re ready to do things differently, to stop banging their head against the wall. We really build a program that’s realistic. It needs to feel good in order for it to be sustainable! What really sets me apart is this exchange. I really coach you throughout the process. You get several calls, either in person or virtual, as well as unlimited email and texting support, which is crucial for my clients’ success. My most successful clients have really allowed me to be on their shoulder, helping them on a daily basis.
What I offer as a registered, licensed dietician is medical nutrition therapy. I can look at any type of medical or health issue—for example, diabetes, high blood pressure, Hoshimto’s, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and metabolic syndrome—and treat the person through medical nutrition therapy. We’re not all the same, some of us have health issues, and there are different ways to work with these issues.
Q: Will I still get results from my treatments at Body Beautiful Miami even if I don’t change my diet?
KG: You will get results, but if you don’t change your diet, they probably won't be sustainable; if you eat more than what your body needs, your fat cells will fill up again. But our treatments give you a big step—a massive leap—ahead. It’s like you’re starting the race a mile ahead of everyone else. It’s a magic machine, but we have to do our part, too. As much as we all want to be skinny legends, we want to feel our best. It’s not just about the number on the scale. It’s about, what does our health look like? The root cause isn’t the weight, there’s something driving it, and when you work with me we get to the root cause of what that is.
Q: Have you tried Warm LED Lipo, other than that initial experience? Tell us about it.
KG: I thought it was too good to be true, until I tried it myself. The technology, the LED light, is able to signal the fat cells to open and release fat, which then goes to the liver. I had never heard of anything like that before. But once I started to use it myself, I saw how well it worked.
I was warned that everyone can have a different experience and result. Some people have a significant response after their second or third treatment, but for me it came after my third and fourth treatments. That’s when I saw the difference in the way my clothes fit. It’s a very individualized response. After several treatments, I was able to reach a place that, had I wanted to do it through diet and exiercse, I would have looked very drawn. This technology is able to spot-treat, which doesn’t exist anywhere else. You probably don’t want to get so lean that your face and neck get too thin, especially if you’re not 20, like me. Now, being a little older, I saw this huge benefit of being able to spot-treat. For younger people, too, the LED Lipo is really the only way to do this.
The good news is that we can measure your loss, even if you don’t see it immediately because of the contouring effect. The fat will drain and it will compress, but the process can take time to actually see it because it's the whole area happening at once.
Q:Is there anything that surprised you about Warm LED Lipo?
KG: Yes. How it was so relaxing! I didn’t expect that after the treatment I would feel so zen! There’s something about the treatment that is so relaxing, it’s almost what you feel after a massage. There’s this immediate benefit of a relaxation, in addition to the long-term benefits of fat loss and contouring.
KG: My number-one rule is, you can’t be hungry. I don’t care how motivated you are, being hungry will always come back and sabotage you. I will always ask my clients if they’re hungry. The reason why someone might be hungry is because they’re not eating the right type of foods for their physiology. For example, those that are insulin-resistant will always be chasing hunger.
My second tip for getting healthier is to reduce processed food, which started becoming more readily available in the ’70s, when our lives became more stressful. We have to work together on how to reduce this. All calories are not alike, and two people won’t respond the same way to an eating plan, so personalization is key. Making vegetables a big part of your meal is a good way to start.
Lastly, don’t eat after dinner. Shut that door. If you’re hungry after dinner, either you haven’t eaten enough during the day or you’re eating to reward your day. There you have it, my three golden rules. How you specifically will make it happen, that’s the magic of working with me.
